In New York State is a pistol permit required for Black Powder Pistols?

Every State has different requirements for possession of Pistols whether in the home, or in the field. I wanted to know if a Pistol Permit is required for Primitive Black Powder pistols in New York State? I am not talking about concealed carry (CCW) permits, but use only for hunting, and target shooting. Also what about transporting the Black Powder Pistol(s) to other states for the same purposes? Do Black Powder anything fall under the Primitive weapon category? Not the new in-line 200yd rifles but actual true black powder old school weapons, whether reproductions built at home from kits, or purchased Antiques?
